What does CBD stand for?
Sometimes, we get tongue-tied trying to say it - CBD stands for Cannabidiol (can-a-bid-i-ol), which is sourced from the cannabis plant, specifically Cannabis Sativa, or Hemp.
Most believe that the cannabis plant was indigenous to, and originated in Central Asia back 8000 BCE. That’s some great trivia huh?
The Hemp plant is often used for producing industrial products such as rope, textiles, shoes, food, paper, and bioplastics.
Okay, but… how did we discover CBD?
CBD was actually discovered by Dr. Roger Adams and his team at the University of Illinois. Although CBD was discovered in the 1940s, true research into the benefits of it didn’t really begin until years later. (That’s the story in a nutshell).
What are the benefits of CBD?
CBD is said to provide many health benefits:
- help with digestion
- provide pain relief
- help with anxiety
- reduce acne in some users
- reducing pain with osteoarthritis
- shown to effectively treat the symptoms of Parkinson's and epilepsy
Does CBD alter my mood, or mental state?
In 1946, Dr. Walter S. Loewe tested CBD on animals and was able to prove that CBD does NOT affect one’s mental state.
Most recently however, the CBD from hemp plants has been infused into cosmetics, hair care products, vaping oils and even lotions.
Is CBD for me?
Well, that’s a decision you would have to make. There are many articles online that provide a ton of information regarding CBD. We recommend you do some reading, as you would with anything.
